Post-Lockdown Holiday Checklist

Publicado por Tayyab Farooq En

After what seems like an eternity, the world is finally beginning to open up for travel once again. While it’s far from “back to normal,” there is a palpable shift in the air. As we emerge blinking into the sunlight, we can at last begin preparing in earnest for those long-delayed holidays we’ve been dreaming about for so long. But after two years of closed borders, can we even remember where to start? We’ve put together a travel checklist to get the cogs turning.

Travel Glasses

You’ll want a good pair of compact folding reading glasses that you can slip into your backpack or shirt pocket and take with you everywhere. This might seem like an odd choice for the first item on our list, but if you wear specs, you’ll know how important a good pair of glasses is and how difficult travelling can be if you get stuck without them. It’s even worth taking a spare pair in a separate bag – ideally, give them to a travelling companion to hold on to. And whether or not you need reading glasses, you should always have a durable pair of polarised sunglasses within reach.

Check Your Passport Expiry

It sounds obvious, but you’d be surprised how many people get deep into travel planning and only realise at the last minute that their passport expired months ago. Make sure you have AT LEAST six months, preferably a year, left on your passport before booking any flights.

Get Your Visas in Order

Having the right travel visa is one of the first things you’ll need to organise, but depending on where you’re going, the process can be convoluted, time consuming, and stressful. Make sure you give yourself plenty of time. You should also consider using a passport and visa service like iVisa to make sure you have all your paperwork in order well before your date of departure.

USB Charger & Battery Pack

Smartphones have revolutionised the way we travel, making it easier than ever before to get directions, communicate with locals, and book travel or accommodation on the fly. You’ll want to take a really good quality USB charger and phone battery pack with you wherever you go, and if you’re going to be somewhere with different power outlets, don’t forget to take a travel adapter as well.

Decide on Your Accommodation

Obviously, this step comes after visas and passports, but it’s best to make plans for accommodation sooner rather than later. As much as you might like a little adventure, there’s nothing exciting about turning up in a foreign town or city only to realise that all the rooms are booked out. Whether you’re going to be staying at the Hilton or a little beach bungalow, you’ll thank yourself when you get there for making arrangements in advance.

Book Your Flights

If this is your first post-lockdown excursion, you’ll undoubtedly find that booking flights isn’t as easy or affordable as it used to be. You may also find that some of the airlines you used to fly with aren’t operating anymore or don’t have flights to the areas you want to visit. We’ve flown with Lufthansa quite a bit and always had a great experience with them, but by all means shop around.

Other Travel Essentials

If you’re planning to travel in 2021, there is obviously quite a bit more to consider, but this checklist should get you off to a running start. We also have a huge range of travel essentials and accessories – from backpacks to headphones, RFID security wallets, and much more. Wherever you’re going, Einhorn Products will make it that much easier to relax on your next adventure.
